Bernard Miller Jr

Bernard Miller Jr, 66, of Charlotte, NC, died Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Novant Medical Center in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Bernard was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 28, 1955, the son of Roland and Edith Kelly Miller. He grew up there and graduated from City College. Blessed with a talent to use his hands and enjoying the outdoors, Bernard set up his own landscaping and tree business in the 1980’s. On May 10, 1984, he married the love of his life, Ms. Francine Smith, and would have celebrated 38 years this year. In 1992, they moved to North Carolina and in 1995, took up residency in Charlotte, where he has been since. Bernard went on to work as a machine operator for Merita Bakery. When not working, Bernard enjoyed work (if you knew him, you knew that as a workaholic, there was no such thing as not working). Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with family and friends. Bernard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Francine, of Charlotte; five children: Jewel K Miller of Baltimore, MD, Brenaya N Miller of Charlotte, Bernard R (wife Lekeshia) Miller of Charlotte, Unique C. Miller of Charlotte, and Divine S. Miller of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren: Rainier, Armand, Kaiden, Breydon, Khylee, Nasya and Mia; and his siblings: June, Stevie, Andre, Angie and Roland. Bernard is further survived by a special friend, Edith Brooks, his church family at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bernard's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. On Monday, all will gather at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3401 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC 28216. Visitation there will begin at 11 AM with services to follow at noon. Following the service, all are welcome to join in procession with the family as they take Bernard to his final place of earthly rest at Charlotte Memorial Gardens, 7632 Hood Road, Charlotte, NC 28215.
