Blui Nay

Blui Nay, 78, of Charlotte, NC, died August 4, 2019, under the care of the staff of Harris Hospice at Novant Health – Presbyterian Campus in Charlotte. Blui was born in Vietnam on April 7, 1941. Starting in 1956, he attended Sabatiier Y-ut College before attending the University of Saigon in 1961. He completed his studies as an engineer and in 1965, went to work at Pleiku in public works. In 1970, he took a position in Saigon as an inspector of land reform programs. When communism took over the country in 1975, Blui was sent to a government re-education camp in Nghe Tinh until he was finally released in 1985 and returned home with his family. Following this experience, he did not like communism and in 1993, he and his family later came to the United States under a humanitarian operation program where they lived in Lansing, Michigan and ultimately moved to Charlotte, NC. He enjoyed many things including tending to his garden and spending time with his church family at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, but most of all, he loved the time spent with family and friends. Blui is survived by his wife, Hser Romah; seven children: H’Jana Siu (husband Kleo Nay), H’Vina Romah (husband Mike Thach), Ueo Romah (wife Iinna Eban), Dena Romah (Michael Norman), Hiep Romah (wife Felicia Song), Chang Romah, and Franco Romah; eight grandchildren: Isaiah, Eli, Liam, Elizabeth and Ethan Romah, Victoria Thach, and Ktang and Hmo Siu. Blui is further survived by a sister in Vietnam; and numerous other relatives and friends. Blui’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home, 704-545-3553, the privilege of caring for him and for them. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, August 9, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Peter Pham at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 10, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. Following the Mass, Blui will be taken in formal procession to his final place of earthly rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
