Charles Jennings McCall

Charles Jennings McCall, 56, of Mint Hill, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at the Novant Medical Center Matthews Campus. Charlie was born in Mecklenburg County on November 15, 1958, the eighth child of Jess Lee McCall and Myrtle Kathleen McCall-Hefner. He worked as a heating and air technician and in 1980, injured his back after falling through a ceiling. Though unable to do the work he loved anymore, he still remained a kind soul who would give anything to anyone. He enjoyed music, especially classic country, and had quite a collection of vintage vinyl albums. His personality and character made him unforgettable and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Charlie is survived by his former wife, caretaker, best friend, and mother of his children, Diane Pressley; and two children: daughter Carla McCall and her daughter, Hayley, and son Wade McCall and his children Kaelynn McCall and Aiden Warford. He is also survived by his siblings: Carolyn Wright of Charlotte; Gene McCall of Midland NC; Henry (wife Diane) McCall of Union County; Vann (Wanda) McCall of Indian Trail, NC; George (wife Toni) McCall of Lake Wylie, NC; Beverly (husband Bobby) Williams of Midland; Jane (husband Tim) Clark of Monroe; James “Cooter” (wife Jennifer) McCall of Davidson; Robbie Hefner of Charlotte; Jerry Hefner of Mint Hill; and Terry Hefner of Mint Hill. He is further survived by special friends Perry (wife Tina) Rice and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Tarlton, who died on her 17th birthday in 1990 after being struck by a car. Charlie’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC, starting at 2 pm on Sunday, December 21, 2014. At 3 pm Mr. Michael Neddo will lead a service of remembrance and celebration where all will be invited to share their memories of Charlie. The service will then conclude after which time Charlie will be cremated and interred at a later date. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and acts of kindness…both those done and those yet to be.
