Claude "Sylvester" Fleming

At 5 A.M. on September 27, 2015, God called his friend, Claude Sylvester Fleming, to sit with him face to face. Sylvester was born January 31, 1953 to James A. and Almead (Hatcher) Fleming in Cumberland County, Virginia. His comment was, “I was raised in the State Forest.” As a young boy, he unknowingly prophesied to himself while rolling an old tire down a hill. He said, “I’m gonna be a tire man when I grow up.” And that he was for over forty years in five states (VA, CA, GA, NC, SC). Anyone he serviced, whether through a company or on his own, they called him the best and wanted his tire service only. He was called “Bubbie, Bubba, BoBo, Dad, Pops, Papa, Brother, Claude, Sylvester, Sully and Preacher.” Preacher because he preached with every tire he changed. He was ready and willing to serve however needed by whichever name he was called. And blessed many lives. God gave him an overwhelming capacity to love everyone unconditionally. This was before his own wants and needs. Sylvester was spiritual father to most of the ones he served. He was preceded in death by mother, Almead (Hatcher) Fleming, father, James A. Fleming, and twin sister, Claudette (Fleming) Witcher. Sylvester leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 17 years, Charlotte Ann Fleming. Sons, Ron (Marcia) Tolliver, Jamandia (Carla) Trent, Ranardo Jones. (Richmond, VA) Daughters, Jessica Fleming (San Jose, CA) Claudia Fleming, Jamie Fleming, Nikkia, Jasmine, LaSara Jones. (Richmond, VA) Sister, Lori (Walter) Tusmin (Cumberland, VA) Brothers: Frolin (Helen) Hatcher, (Eaglespring, NC) and James Lonnie Fleming (Campbell, CA). Brother-in-law, Albert Thurman and Daughter-in-law, Yolanda Tolliver (Columbus, OH) Grandchildren, Nadia (Quincy) Reed, Sherita (Mathias) Kendricks, Ron (Masonique) Tolliver, Nikisha Tolliver, Ashley (Trent) Wills, Robert (Amberly) Tolliver, Devon Conley, (OH). Devonte’ Trent (Richmond, VA),Kala Tolliver (Aurora, CO), Shakera Trent (Richmond, VA), Wesley Gallaher (Columbus, OH), Katai James (Richmond, VA). Thirteen Great Grandchildren, two Aunts, Dorothy Brooks (PA), Fannie Collins (Urbancrest, OH). Many nephews, nieces , cousins and extended family and friends. We all thank God and bless you all for your service and kindness during this time of bereavement.
