Francis Buddy Bundy

Francis Raymond “Buddy” Bundy, 76, of Charlotte, died Saturday, March 24, 2017. Through the blessing of hospice, he was able to do so in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family. 12/15/1941, Born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, on December 15, 1941, Buddy was the son of Francis Donaldson and Josephine Pearson Bundy. He grew up there and after graduating from high school, went to work for JP Stevens as a color mixer. While there, his supervisor set up a date between him and Ms. Shirley Jean White, a coworker. On July 30, 1965, they were wed in Chesterfield, South Carolina. Buddy served for a short time in the National Guard before being discharged. Upon his discharge, he and Jean moved to Charlotte where Buddy went into route sales for baked goods and dairy with Hunter Farms Dairy. Blessed with people skills, he could barter his goods to obtain everything from meals to mechanical work. He eventually retired from that career but never retired from his people skills. Buddy loved sports and he was known to be a NY Yankee and NC Tarheel fan from his earliest days. He coached and played most of his adult life. He especially enjoyed softball, where he played on the Latter-day Saints Softball League. He was baptized into the church in December of 1969 and remained a faithful member until the day he graduated to his heavenly home. Buddy also loved to spend time outdoors and tinkering. Whether fishing, camping, gardening, or fixing things, he enjoyed life and blessed those around him with his wonderful sense of humor. His memory will be celebrated and he will be missed by those blessed to know him. Buddy is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Jean; their children: Deborah Lynn Carpenter of Mint Hill, North Carolina, Kimberly Ann Bundy of Charlotte, Holly Jean White (husband Justin) of Concord, North Carolina, and Matthew Pearson Bundy of West NY, NJ; their grandchildren: Haley Carpenter of Asheville, North Carolina, Alexis Bundy of Charlotte, Emily Carpenter of Mint Hill, Josie Carpenter of Mint Hill, Brody White of Concord, and Memphis White of Concord, NC; and nieces and nephews: Meredith Inserra (husband Paul) of New Bern, North Carolina, Heather Bivens of New Bern, Clay Harley of New Bern, Christy Rivers of Rock Hill, South Carolina, John Rivers of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Genia Hinton of Laurinburg, North Carolina. He is further survived by his LDS family as well as numerous other family and friends. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents: and a sister, Joanne Harley. Buddy’s family has given the privilege of caring for them to the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home and their fleet of Carolina Blue cars. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2500 Rocky River Road, Charlotte, NC, 28213, on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 11:00 am until noon. Services will begin at noon. A private interment will follow at a later date at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
