John B. Redman

John Redman, 62, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 with his family at his side. John was born in Missouri, grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, AND attended and graduated from Cuyahoga Community College. He worked for Litho Printing, and in 1996 his company transferred him to Charlotte. Litho Printing went out of business and John went to work for A Shade Above, a company specializing in window treatments. Blessed with a talent for using his hands, John was an excellent installer of custom window blinds and treatments. In 2000, while frequenting a local watering hole many call “Steamers”, he met Ms. Pam Harding, an ace dart player. They hit it off and after only 18 years of courtship, tied the knot on March 24, 2018, at that same place. When not working, John was an excellent pool shooter and he was a member of the APA. John also enjoyed going outdoors and when he did, he loved to play golf, and not only play golf, but play it well. In fact, a day after his birthday this year, October 15th, he won the Jeff Burleson Memorial Golf Tournament. Whether pool, golf, or any of the other times you were with him, many will remember John as always being a good sport, a gentleman and your biggest supporter. John was never one to complain or go to the doctor, but he finally agreed to go to the doctor for shortness of breath and pain in his legs. And on November 14th, John went to a doctor, was hospitalized for a short time, and returned home to enjoy Thanksgiving with his wife, because her cooking was much better than what he ate at the hospital! A few days later, John went on hospice care for stage IV cancer and was under the loving care of the Novant Hospice Unit when he passed. John is survived by his wife, Pam Harding of Charlotte; two children: Mercedes Redman of Seattle, Washington and Cassandra Redman of Chester, South Carolina; and a younger brother, Carl (wife Patty) Redman of Hinckley, Ohio and their two children, Angel and Julie. John is further survived by a nephew, Jimmy, and his extended family at Steamers, the Surf Inn, the APA, Charles T Myers Golf Course, and the many others he met in life who will fondly remember him and the time they spent together. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sue Redman of Parma Heights, Ohio. John’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. A service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 3 PM in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Friends may call upon the family from 2 PM until the time of service. Following the service, all are invited to join the family at Steamers to continue in food, fellowship and remembering this wonderful man.
