Madeleine Theresa McClelland McNutt, 77, of Mint Hill, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Novant Health Presbyterian Campus in Charlotte, NC. Melody, as she was also known as, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 5, 1946, the daughter of John and Madeline Balland Geer. She grew up in Springfield and after graduating high school, was blessed to become a mother. While in her 20’s, she put herself through beauty school and went on to become the owner/operator of her own hair salon. Later, she met and married Thomas Robert McNutt. When not working, Melody loved to garden; and blessed with a talent to use her hands, she also enjoyed painting and sewing. Musically, she also enjoyed singing and dancing and belle dancing Most of all, she loved the time spent with family and friends. She was a rock she was our heart she’ll always be in our souls she was the best mother wife, and friend to all that knew her and love her although our hearts are broken, they are not shattered. She is no longer in pain and with her God her love well last and eternity. She has created so much life and so much love. From time to time please look on us as we will remember you every second of every day until we are with you again. She will be deeply missed the hearts and forever in our hearts. See you when we see you, love you mama Melody is survived by her husband, Thomas Robert McNutt of Mint Hill; her children: Robert (fiance Shawna Turner) McClelland of Charlotte, Michael (wife Marianne) McClelland of Bristol, Connecticut, Richard Alan (wife Renee) McClelland of Lowell, Massachusetts, Mathew (wife Victoria) McNutt of Sanford, Maine, and Ryan McNutt of Mint Hill, NC; grandchildren: Michael, Makayla, Marcus, Marissa, Kyele, Aliya, Andrew, Tristan, Addyson, Colby, Madison, Calman and Claire; a great grandchild Summer; and her siblings: John Geer, Wayne Geer and Susan Stiglich. Melody is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Donald McClelland. Melody’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. Services will begin at 3 pm on Monday, May 1, 2023, in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC. Friends may call upon the family at the funeral home from 2 pm until the time of service. All services will conclude at the funeral home that day.
