Matteo Vincent Forte

Matteo Vincent Forte, 78, of Indian Trail, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Novant Health – Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Matt was born in Brooklyn, NY, on July 11, 1936, the son of Nicolo and Rosaria DiCarlo Forte. He grew up in New York and after school, honorably served his country in the United States Army. Matt obtained a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and worked as a designer of home fashions as well as a plant manager for several companies. While he worked for Kenneth Home Fashions, he moved to Charlotte about 49 years ago where he had been a resident of the area since. In addition to work, Matt also enjoyed spending time with people. He was a volunteer for CMC-Union in Monroe for 8 years. He was active in the Monroe Aquatics Center Seniors Group and also his church family at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Charlotte. Matt enjoyed cooking and catering for family and friends and for weekly bluegrass events. Enjoying his childhood memories and ancestry, Matt also loved to travel, especially to New York and Italy. Matt was a joyful soul who could always see the best in people, whose smile was infectious, and who lived life to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Matt is survived by his children: a daughter Natalie Forte Payne and husband Greg of Monroe, NC; a son Kenneth Forte of Indian Trail; and a daughter Stephanie Forte of Matthews, NC; two sisters: Anna Bonura of Ridge, NY, and Kitty Sinacore of Ridge, NY; and three special four-legged canine grandchildren: Milky, Sugar and Bella. Matt is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Frieda, Mary and Nancy. A Mass of Christian Burial led by Father Pat Hoare will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 23, at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte. The family will receive friends in the church hall following the Mass. Interment will be at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
