Nakhle Tanios Nakhle

Nakhle Tanios “James” Nakhle, 86, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, May 11, at his home surrounded by his family and hospice. Born in Lebanon on January 21, 1930, in Lebanon, he was the son of Tanios and Mariam Azzi Nakhle. He was a spirited and devoted young man. Though partially crippled by an accident that permanently deformed his left hand, he worked hard to support his siblings and help ensure they received the education they needed to be successful later in life. At the age of 32, he married the most beautiful woman in his village, Isabelle Azzi, and in 1986, they came to the United States. Nakhle always loved to work outside and enjoyed gardening. He worked for Hillbilly Produce as well as Dillards. In addition, he also enjoyed keeping up with the stock market. A simple, passionate and patriarchal man, Nakhle most of all loved his family and the time spent with all of them. Whether traveling to Lebanon as he did regularly up to his 81st birthday or providing his sage advice in the direct manner he was known for, his love for family was always evident and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Nakhle is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Isabelle Nakhle (nee Azzi) of Charlotte; four children: his son Antoun Nakhle (wife Marilyn) of Midland, NC and their children Stacy (husband John), Chris (wife Renita), Nicholas, and Lauren; his son Samir Nakhle (wife Kimberly) of Concord and their children Justin and Abigayle; a son Riad Nakhle of Charlotte and his sons Benjamin and Michael; and his daughter Monda Nakhle Gower of Charlotte and her sons Eddy and Austen. Nakhle is further survived by his siblings Eduard, Kamil, Philip and Sanoura; as well as numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George; and a sister, Suraya. Nakhle’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, May 13, from 1 to 2 pm at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. At 2 pm, Mr. Michael Neddo will lead a service in the funeral home chapel celebrating the life, love and blessing of this extraordinary man.
