Paul Edward Deason

Paul Edward Deason, 89, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Clear Creek Care Center in Charlotte. Paul was born in Union County, NC, on December 22, 1925, the son of James Samuel and Ellen Richardson Deason. In April of 1944, he was drafted into the US Army Air Corps where he served in the South Pacific Theater until the end of WWII. On April 7, 1945, he married Elsie Morgan. In 1959, they moved to Charlotte and owned and operated "Insurance World". He was active in charity, both personally and financially, giving of both to his neighbors and his church family at Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he also ran the tape ministry. He was an avid ham radio enthusiast, call number K4HRX. Most of all, he loved his family and friends, and he will be missed by those who fondly recall his cornball sense of humor and his giving spirit. Paul is survived by three children: Kathryn Deason of Charlotte, Terry (husband, Lindsay) Abee of Harrisburg, and Philip Deason of Charlotte; grandchildren: Amy (husband Walter) Bundy of Concord, David (wife Lorissa) Griggs of Granite Quarry, NC, and Jeffrey (fiance Jessica Caldwell) Abee of Harrisburg; great grandchildren: Austin, Justin, Jeremiah, Codie, Dallas, Brooklyn, and Caleb; and a brother, Robert "Bob" (wife Reba) Deason of Meridian, Mississippi. Paul is further survived by special friends Phil Nye and Wayne Shope, as well as numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, in February of 2014; a daughter, Paulette; and brothers James William "JW", Neal Curtis, and Rev Albert Eli "Billy" Deason. Funeral services led by Pastor Harrell will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, August 1, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 6050 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Paul final place of earthly rest will be next to his wife at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, West Sugar Creek Road,Charlotte.
