Richard Dallas Smith

Richard “Ricky” Smith, age 61, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away September 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, craftsmanship, and quiet strength. Born on July 10, 1964, in Charlotte, Ricky was the beloved son of Gerald and Lois Faye Wilson Smith. From a young age, Ricky showed a remarkable gift with his hands—an aptitude that would shape his life’s work. As an appliance repair technician, he served his community with skill and integrity, working both independently and with local companies. His work was more than a job—it was a reflection of his dedication to helping others and doing things right. Ricky’s life was deeply rooted in faith and family. At just 15 years old, he met Teresa Flowe at church. She was 17, and from that moment, their story began. They were married in 1983 and built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. Ricky found joy in simple pleasures—watching wrestling matches and old westerns, especially Bonanza, which he loved for its timeless values and rugged charm. He was a proud father to four sons, each of whom carries forward his spirit and strength: Richard (wife Sarah) Smith of China Grove, and their children Alex and Richard; Jason (wife Jennifer) Smith of Salisbury, and their children Joseph and Nicholas; Christopher (partner Kadee Dowell) of Mooresville, and their children Braydon, Victoria, and Haylee; and Brandon Smith of Mint Hill. Ricky is also survived by his siblings Robert Decker and Sheila Blakemore, along with a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss his steady presence and kind heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Lois Faye, and his brothers Michael Smith and Jimmy Smith. The family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home has been entrusted with the honor of caring for Ricky and his loved ones. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025, followed by a service at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte. Ricky’s hands may have stilled, but the work they did—and the love they gave—will echo for generations.
