Rick Todd McManus

Ricky “Rick” “Ricky T” Todd McManus, 57, of Wingate, North Carolina, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 14, 2019, on the beach while on vacation with his wife and grandsons in Indiatlantic (Melbourne), Florida. Rick was born on July 6, 1962, in Lancaster, South Carolina. He spent some years in Florida and also in Indiana with a majority of his life spent in Waxhaw, Monroe and Wingate, NC. A concrete finisher by trade, he was blessed to do what he loved for over 40 years and he took great pride in it. You couldn't call him just a concrete finisher, however, because he was smart, skilled with his hands and able to build anything he was tasked with creating. When not working, Rick liked anything that had to do with the outdoors and keeping busy with his "honey do" projects around the house. Most of all, though, Rick enjoyed spending time and entertaining his family and friends. Rick is survived by his wife, Michelle McManus of Wingate, NC; a daughter, Jessilyn McManus of Booneville, IN; two stepsons: Jeremy Smithgall of Monroe, NC, and Jason Smithgall, of Wingate; a step daughter, Megan (husband Chano) Moranchel of Wingate; two grandsons: Antonio and Jonathan Moranchel of Wingate; and one granddaughter, Kylie Smithgall of Monroe. Rick is also survived by a brother, Terry (wife Rhonda) McManus of Waxhaw, NC; four nieces: Tarah McManus Helms of Charlotte, Savannah McManus of Waxhaw, Nikki McManus Foreman and Brooke McManus, both of Alabama. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bobbie D. and Margaret McKinney McManus; and two brothers, Kenneth Dale and Ronald Dean McManus. The family has given Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care in Palm Bay, FL, and the Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home in Matthews, NC, the privilege of caring for Rick and for them. Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care handled the cremation arrangements. Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home is assisting with the services in Monroe. At 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2019, Mr. Michael Neddo will lead a service to celebrate the life, love and blessing of this wonderful man. All are invited to join with the family for this service at the Monroe VFW Post #5464, 712 VFW Road, Monroe, NC 28110. Please bring your stories of Rick as there will be a time in the service for the sharing of memories, laughter, and remembering fondly how Rick touched everyone's life. After the service, all are invited to remain for food and fellowship in Rick's honor. Thank you for keeping the McManus family in your thoughts, prayers and acts of kindness during this time.
