Ruth Isabel Anderson

Ruth Isabel Anderson was born March 25, 1930, in New York, NY. On Wednesday, October 30, 2019, God summoned Ruth to His heavenly mansion that He had prepared for her. “Ruthie,” as she was fondly called, grew up in Jamaica, West Indies, after moving there at a young age when her mother died shortly after she was born. She then moved back to the United States, spending her adult life in New York City before moving to Charlotte, NC, in 2004, after her retirement. With immense courage, Ruthie left everything she had known, to begin from scratch in another country for the sake of her children’s future. Her decency, her honesty, her absolute selflessness to fulfill her duty to her family without praise or gratitude are an inspiration to all. Ruthie was a beautiful and loving mother and grandmother who had an unquestionable love for her family, especially her grandchildren. And while she enjoyed many things, not the least of which were cooking, watching Wheel of Fortune, completing word puzzles, asking for one of her vices (coffee or Diet Coke) and making her infamous sweet potato pudding, what she enjoyed the most was being around people and telling funny stories. Ruthie was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. She was smart and witty, and her story is one of a formidable hero who carried everything on her shoulders to give her family a secure future. Ruth has earned her eternal rest and now it is our turn to try and be worthy of the sacrifices she has made. May God rest her beautiful soul. She leaves to cherish her everlasting memories, daughters: Faye, Yvonne, Marcia, Paulette and Debbie; sons: Donald and Trevor; devoted sons-in-laws: Dave “Davey,” Thomas, and Leroy; and a daughter-in-law, Kariene. The legacy of love and the abundance of happy memories will forever be cherished by her grandchildren: Sheldon (wife Cherise), Georgia, Kenneth, Marcus, Sonya, Stephanie, Tyler, Samantha, David, Leigh-Ann, and great grandchildren: Stephan and Tristan, and a host of other relatives and friends. Ruth’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. All services will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, 28105. Visitation will begin at 10 AM and at 11 AM, all present will gather in the chapel for a service. Following the service, Ruth will be taken in formal procession to her final place of earthly rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
