Tony Douglas Tucker

Tony Douglas Tucker Jr., known to everyone simply as Doug, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2025, through the blessing of hospice care and surrounded by the family who loved him dearly. Born to Tony and Jane Pegram Tucker, Doug grew up in Mint Hill, where he built lifelong friendships and a deep connection to the community he always called home. He graduated from Independence High School and spent his early years working a variety of jobs before finding his place with McGee Brothers, where he proudly worked for more than 24 years. Doug loved his job—especially driving the truck—and he cherished the people he worked alongside. His McGee Brothers family meant the world to him. Doug enjoyed the simple joys of life: watching football, cheering passionately for his beloved Miami Dolphins, and sharing that same die-hard loyalty with his son, Juston. As a child, he played Mint Hill Little League baseball, and later returned to the field as a coach when his son played, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. He was also an avid Elvis Presley fan, a love that brought him joy throughout his life. Doug is survived by his wife of 24 years, Amy; his son, Juston (Courtney) Tucker of Locust, and their children, Presley and Piper; his daughter, Amber Tucker of Monroe; his sister, Vickie (David) Streets of Huntersville; and his mother, Jane. He is also survived by nieces and nephews—Stacey (Cary) Moser, Tyler Smith, Neal (Maegan) Thomas, and Cortney (Zach) Ricketts—as well as his first wife and mother of his two children, Tonya (Bill) Woodcock of Mint Hill. Doug leaves behind his loyal dog, Renna, several beloved great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends who will forever remember his humor, his kindness, and his unwavering love for those around him. He was preceded in death by his father and hero, Tony Tucker Sr.; his precious granddaughter, Penelope Tucker; and several cherished pets who were waiting to greet him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Blair Road United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM. All services will conclude at the church. Guests are encouraged to dress casually; those wearing Miami Dolphins apparel will receive preferred seating. McGee Brothers uniforms are welcome for those who have them. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Doug’s name to the animal rescue or charity organization of your choice, honoring his lifelong love for animals. Doug lived with loyalty, humor, and heart. His legacy will continue in the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the love he poured into his family and friends.
