William Howard Britt

William “Bill” Howard Britt, Age 56 and resident of Mint Hill, NC passed October 7th, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC of natural causes. Bill was born March 5th, 1959 in Lumberton, NC to Rudolph Britt and Margaret Stevenson. Bill was the youngest of five children: Jewel, Carol, Bobby, Wayne, and Danny. His brothers Bobby and Wayne lived very short lives due to hereditary medical conditions that were also the culprit of Bill’s untimely death. Bill’s father passed when he was at the young age of five due to a massive heart attack. His mother “Mema” passed in 2008. Bill was married to Bonnie Britt for 38 years. They married October 15th, 1977 in Manassas, VA. They met at a carnival at the age of 16; Bill was a “carny”, while Bonnie was there just having a good time; neither of them knowing that this moment would turn into a long life journey together. Bill was not a highly educated man; he dropped out of school in 8th grade. He may not of had what people would call “book smarts”, but please don’t let that fool you. Bill was a highly intelligent man when it came to making it through this thing called life. He was a fighter and never gave up. His motto was to work hard for what you want out of this life, and never let somebody tell you “no”. Keep knocking on those doors until someone opens one; because they will. He was a cross-country truck driver for 30+ years, owning two trucking businesses during that time. He worked hard to provide the life that he felt his family deserved, and once his son was ready, he passed down his knowledge of the business to him. And while it may not be a glamorous life, it was all that he knew to pass down; and he knew it well. He enjoyed cosmic bowling, annual beach trips with his family, winning top male driver for the day at the Grand Prix in Myrtle Beach, SC, shooting pool, and once in a blue moon, a Tom Collins. Bill is survived by: His wife, Bonnie Britt of Mint Hill, NC His son, Kevin Britt (Crystal) of Concord, NC His daughter, Shaina Britt of Indian Trail, NC Grandchildren Celeise, Cameron, Kaleb and Kayleigh Britt of Concord, NC Sisters Jewel Cushman (Elvin) of Callahan, FL and Carol Sada (Robert) of Fayetteville, NC Brother Danny Britt of Myrtle Beach, SC Aunt Sylvia Ann Britt Welsh of Gary, Indiana and also Aunt Lilly Rose Bill is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill's family gave the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. Services honoring and celebrating Bill's life were held at noon on Saturday, October 10, 2015, in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Interment and committal followed at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
