April 11, 1952 - July 20, 2020

THE VISITATION AND SERVICE WILL BE SHARED ON ZOOM. Meeting ID 846 8940 5599 of click this link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84689405599 Webcast will begin at 11:45 AM and end after the service. Charles Dean Spielman, 68, of Charlotte, died unexpectedly at his home on July 20, 2020. Charles was born in Flora, Illinois, on April 11, 1952, the son of Frederick and Ruby Mae McDonald Spielman. He grew up in Charlotte on North Myers Street and graduated from Garinger High School. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from which he was subsequently discharged honorably. Blessed with a talent to work with his hands and carrying on his father’s legacy, Charles worked in the HVAC business for Fred’s Oil & Gas Burner Service before going to work for Siemens where he was in charge of quality control. When he wasn’t working, Charles enjoyed gardening, reading, hunting and bird watching. In fact, he loved to learn about anything he didn’t already know about. What he loved the most, however, was the time spent with family and friends and he will be missed by those who knew him. Charles is survived by his children: Matthew (wife Candise) Spielman of Charlotte, Justin Spielman of Charlotte, Alex Spielman of Willamina, Oregon, Stefanie Spielman of Charlotte, Heather Spielman of Tega Cay, South Carolina, and Melinda Spielman of Charlotte; and his siblings: Sherri Bundy of Stuart, Virginia, Jimmy Spielman of Charlotte, Phyllis Nivens of Asheville, North Carolina, and Sandy Thomas of Concord, North Carolina. Charles is further survived by his grandchildren: Matthew and Candise’s son, Jamar Radford; Heather’s children Sean and Jacob; and Melinda’s daughter, Harmony. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Connie Kay Spielman; a grandson, Derrick Spielman; and two infant brothers, Roger and Ronny. Charles’ family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. Services honoring the life, love and blessing of Charles will be held at noon on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A private burial will take place later at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. Charles was a big supporter of St Jude’s and the family would like to request that in his honor, any donations be made directly to them at www.stjude.org PLEASE NOTE: Social distancing requirements are in strict effect and the use of facemasks is MANDATORY, thank you.
