Faye Keziah Benton
April 30, 1935 - April 14, 2022
Faye Keziah Benton, 86, of Mint Hill, died on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Novant Medical Center in Matthews, NC. Faye was born in Mecklenburg County on April 30, 1935, the youngest of ten children born to Jesse and Carrie Wallace Keziah. She was a lifelong resident, growing up on Keziah Road in Matthews and graduating from East Mecklenburg High School, Class of 1953. She married Herman Allen, who preceded her in death after almost 38 years of marriage. In 1994, she married Jerry Benton, who she had known since elementary school. After 24 years of marriage, he also preceded her in death. Faye was blessed with a talent for working with numbers. She worked for many years as an accountant in the textile industry, retiring from Southern Manufacturing. When not working, she enjoyed many things but most recently, had come to spend countless hours on Facebook. This allowed her to keep up with everyone and even do some gaming. She didn’t limit herself to social media, however. With a cellphone in one hand and a landline in the other, she had no problem having conversations with most anyone, except for the occasional “scammer” who wound up with her number. If you were a scammer, you got an earful before you were hung up on. Most of all, Faye loved her family. Like a matriarch, she not only took care of her family but also of her siblings, their spouses and the numerous nieces and nephews she had. Faye was truly the glue that bound the family together. Faye is survived by her children: Sharon (Kevin) Anderson of Indian Trail, NC, and David (Lisa) Allen of Mint Hill, NC; her grandchildren: Carmen Heffner of Hermitage, TN, Brandon (Melanie) Heffner of Mint Hill, NC, Brittany (Jonny) Marlin of Oakboro, NC, Spencer Kane of Mint Hill and Carson Kane of Mint Hill; and a great grandchild, Aiden Michael Heffner. Faye is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her two husbands, Faye was preceded in death by her nine siblings. Faye’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Matthews on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with services to follow at 11 AM. After the service, Faye will be taken in formal procession to her final place of earthly rest at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. Services will be livestreamed. Please visit this page on the day of the service for the link to join the livestream. Video stream from the church will begin 5 minutes before the services begin. Faye was extremely proud of her granddaughter, Carmen, and the mission work she does. In lieu of flowers, food or other donations, the family respectfully requests support be sent to Carmen and her mission. Please send donations online to https://support.liveglobal.org/carmen/ or mail to ABWE, PO Box 8585, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8585 and reference account #0134061.
