Frances Williams Lilly

July 24, 1926 - August 31, 2019

After more than 93 full and wonderful years with family and friends, Mrs. Frances Williams Lilly entered the arms of Jesus on August 31, 2019. A woman of exceptional faith, she devoted her life to praying for and comforting others. She was a kind and caring soul to her family and friends. Her smile and joy of living would light up any room. Her passion was growing flowers and vegetables in the dirt. She loved anything to do with nature, had quite a green thumb and enjoyed growing flowers in her yard, the yard of the house on Margaret Wallace Road that she lived in for over 70 years. A devoted Christian, Frances was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church, attending faithfully until her health declined. She radiated love, deep faith and compassion to all during her life and many were blessed with her strong and caring spirit. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Lilly, three days after their 61st wedding anniversary in 2003; and their son, Larry Lilly, in 2013. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda (husband Wayne) McCarver of Mint Hill; granddaughter Gina (husband Charles) Brock of Clemmons, NC; Sandra (husband Dennis) Pollock of Monroe, NC; and great grandchildren: Nicholas Mullis, Lauren Pollock, Rebecca Brock. She is further survived by four sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In her final years, her greatest joy was spending time with her three great grandchildren. She relished their visits and avidly followed their progress and accomplishments. Her legacy will live on in the silent acts of love and friendship she so generously shared. She handled any outcome with dignity and grace, never complaining, and will be remembered for her enduring faith in the Lord, love of her children, her graciousness, her tenderness of spirit and the depth of kindness she showed to others. She is admired for her strength and courage but gave quick credit to God saying “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. The Lilly family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for Frances and for them. All services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. At 11:00 AM, all present will depart and reunite for a graveside service at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. Frances' granddaughter, the Rev. Dr. Gina Brock, will lead the service along with Rev. Jason Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully appreciated to the New Hope Baptist Church, 7841 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
