Gloria Clare Wright Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gloria Clare Wright (nee Richards) was born on March 4th 1938 to Iris DeCosta and Vincent Richards in Jamaica, West Indies. She was one of five children of which brother, Dorsey Fisher and sister, Barbara Richards are still living. Joyce Fisher and Beresford "Kernel" Richards, her other siblings preceding her in death. “Glo” as she was affectionately called by her beloved husband of 56 years, Ezrie Wright, migrated to New York in 1967. She was later joined by Ezrie and at the time, their three children, Lincoln, Colin (deceased) and Lavern. Colene, their fourth child was born in the USA. Those who knew Gloria will remember her for her love of family, cooking, a good laugh as she was a great story-teller and most importantly her love for God. Gloria’s passionate and caring nature lent itself to the love she showed to various people in need through the Jewish Community Service of Long Island. She also worked many years in the food service division of the New York City School System. Gloria was a long time member of The First Reformed Church of Jamaica in Queens, New York, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and assisting with their Youth Group. After relocating to Charlotte, NC, Gloria and Ezrie joined East Calvary Baptist Church where she brought her signature warm nature and humble spirit. Gloria Clare Wright transitioned from her earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, January 4, 2021, surrounded by family. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Ezrie and their children; Lincoln Wright, Lavern Wright-Moore (Ray), and Colene Wright, grandchildren; Felicia Wright-Brown (Richard), Cahtar Wright (Ciani), Aevry Wright, and Doran Wright, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, extended families and countless friends. A Home Going Service will be held in the chapel of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home on Monday, January 11, 2021, at 1PM, with a gathering of friends and family to take place there at 11AM to 12:00 noon.
