Neyda Hernandez, 89, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Through the blessing of hospice, Neyda was able to transition peacefully at home surrounded by family. Neyda was born in Havana, Cuba, on August 4, 1929, the youngest of seven children born to Eusabio and Maria Magdalena Hernandez. Neyda migrated to Boston, Massachussets on march 13, 1970, accompanied by her husband, Miguel Sarracent and their three children. She worked hard and was the owner of Hercent Supermarket. She later worked as a key punch operator with Kemper and then went on to and retired from Arbella Insurance. Neyda was affectionately called “Tata” by many who loved her. She loved to cook, sew and read books, especially Danielle Steele novels. She also enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines. But anyone who knew Tata knew that what she loved most in life was time spent with family and friends and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Neyda is survived by her three children: Miguel (wife Renee) Sarracent, Maria Sarracent (husband Aslyn) Holder and Maria del Carmen (husband Brian) Webster; grandchildren: Nathaniel, Serena Sarracent, Latoya Price, Ian, Shawnte, Eric, Simmone Holder, Jaime, Javier, Dodge; and great grandchildren: Savannah, Julianne Sarracent, Annaliese, Yasmine Holder, Jakrii, Jaslyn Davis, Kinghston, Leighlani Heath. She is further survived by the father of Maria’s children, James Dodge, and the mother of Miguel’s children, Yvette Brevard, as well as numerous other family and friends. Neyda was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Miguel, her six siblings and her parents. Graveside services will be held in the Mausoleum Chapel at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, April 24, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
