Randy James Patton, 55, of Monroe, died Monday, July 4, at CMC-Union in Monroe, NC. Randy was born in Charlotte, NC, on June 27, 1961, the son of Franklin Amos and Grace Faulkenbury Patton. He graduated from high school and went on to become counselor for drug dependent adults and abused children. He worked at the Life Center in Galax, VA, and then Mount Rogers in Virginia. Randy enjoyed many things in life. He was known to fish, garden, cook and listen to classical rock and roll such as Journey, REO Speedwagon, Fleetwood Mac and Queen. After the loss of his legs to diabetes, he returned to Charlotte for rehabilitation and to be closer to his family. He loved caring for others and his greatest love was his family and friends who will miss him dearly. Randy is survived by his sister, Vickie Hooks (husband Michael) of Charlotte, NC, and their children Genny Hale (husband Artie) of Florida, Kimberly Dean (husband Douglas) of Mint Hill, and Mitchell Hooks (wife Cyndi) of Stallings; his brother, Eddie Patton of Independence, VA, and his daughter, Wendy Springer (husband Chad) of Albermarle, NC; a special grandniece and “rock and roll buddy”, Felicia; and his favorite four legged companion, Rusty. Randy is further survived by numerous other grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Sharon Memorial Park. Interment will take place at 12:30. Randy’s family would like to express their grateful appreciation to CMC-Union; and with heartfelt appreciation would especially like to thank the fourth floor nursing staff for their help and kindness.
