Steven Elliott Collins

Steven Elliott Collins, 76, of Kannapolis, died Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill, NC. Steven was born in Cabarrus Hospital in Cabarrus County, NC, on January 25, 1944, the son of Samuel and Audrey Woodward Collins Jr. He grew up in Cabarrus County, graduating from A. L. Brown High School in Kannapolis in 1962. In February of 1967, he married Virginia Ann Sowder. They have two daughters, Lara Marie Collins Kempka (husband Kevin) of San Diego, California, and Jean Elizabeth Collins Love (husband Tommy) of Monmouth, Oregon. Steven enjoyed many things in life including golf, darts and baseball. He worked in a variety of vocations including mortgage brokering and telephone marketing. He moved to Kannapolis in 2002, retiring in 2009, and has lived there until his health issues required more skilled nursing care. In addition to his daughters, Steven is survived by the mother of his children, Ann Collins; and his siblings: Danny (wife Delma) Collins, Timothy (wife Yonaira) Collins, and Phil (wife Kay) Collins. He is further survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rebecca Collins Larsen.
