Theresa Ferrucci Clapps Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Theresa M. (Ferrucci) Clapps, 99, of Charlotte, NC passed away, on Dec. 24, 2016, at The Little Flower Assisted Living Facility in Charlotte, NC. Born in Schenectady, NY she lived in a home built by her father on Van Vranken Avenue for 87 years, moving to Charlotte, NC to be near her daughter and son-in-law in 2004. Theresa retired from Schenectady County Department of Social Services in 1982. A loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, she is predeceased by her husband Louis W. Clapps, her parents Joseph and Mary Ferrucci, brother Pasquale Ferrucci, and her cousin and dearest friend and companion Mary Ferrucci. She is survived by her daughter Mary Jayne Szyper and son-in-law, William B. Szyper of Venice, FL ; grandsons, William C. Szyper of St Petersburg, FL, and Thomas M. Szyper of Englewood, FL, and great grandson William Dawson Szyper of Racine, WI and many loving and caring cousins. Theresa was a loving wife, mother, and caregiver to her mother, while she worked part time at the General Electric Research Lab in Niskayuna. She was very active in church and civic activities. She was a life long member of St Anthony's Catholic Church in Schenectady, where she served as a Eucharist minister, a member of The Sacred Heart League, a member of the Columbiettes and as an avid volunteer she served annually at St. Anthony's Italian Festa. Theresa belonged to the Lady of Fatima/St. Helen's Seniors and served as President of the Northside Senior Center. She was an active member of the Sons of Italy Lodge, where she volunteered weekly. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm on December 28, 2016 at The Little Flower Assisted Living Facility in Charlotte, NC. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue, Schenectady, NY at a later date.
