Warren Rickard

Warren D. Rickard, 79, of Kannapolis, NC, fought courageously in his battle against covid. He passed away on, January 20, 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus surrounded by family. Warren was born in Arcadia, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1942, the son of Mildred Rickard and Warren Kerr. He grew up in Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania, along with his brother Bill, both raised by their grandmother, Flora Rickard. He graduated from Purchase Line High School, Class of 1960. He served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge May, 1967. On June 1, 1968, he married A. Wendy Cardinale. They lived in Chardon, Ohio, where all seven of their four sons and three daughters were born before moving to Charlotte in 1985. Over the years, Warren worked as a Mechanical Designer for many prestigious companies including Euclid, and Freightliner. When not working to support his large family, Warren enjoyed spending time with his wife, traveling, working on classic cars and improving his home. After retirement, his love for design and creation continued in his personal woodworking shop. He was a wealth of information, and a source of advice for many of his children and grandchildren. He is deeply missed by all that knew him. Warren is survived by his four sons and three daughters: Warren (wife Patra) Cardinal; Sean (wife Sasha) Rickard; Eric (wife Jennifer) Rickard; Wendy (husband Chris) Trout; Tiffany (husband Gary) Snyder; Danielle (husband Barry) Glass, and Joseph Rickard. He is further survived by sixteen grandchildren: Dylan, Shelby, Kyle, Alexandria, Elizabeth, Gavin, Chance, Trevor, Tripp, Olivia, Sophia, Grace, Evie, Sebastian, Ila, and Jacob; and one great-grandson, Eli. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, parents, and brother. Warren’s family has given Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him. The memorial was a private family gathering at Joy Christian Fellowship in Matthews, NC.
