Aaron Lewis Dodd

Aaron Lewis Dodd, age 42, beloved son and brother, joined his father, the Rev. Robert Dodd, in heaven on Sept. 13, 2021 after an eleven-month battle with aggressive colon cancer. He passed away at home with loved ones surrounding him. Raised in a Methodist parsonage since March 9, 1979 when he was born in Greensboro. NC, he lived with his family in Gibsonville, Stanley, Charlotte, Greensboro, Kannapolis, Belmont and most recently in Matthews. A graduate of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, he studied briefly at Pfeiffer College and UNC-Charlotte before earning a certificate at Carolina School of Broadcasting and later completing studies and becoming licensed for several years as an Emergency Medical Technician. He was a student of movies, contemporary music and video games, amassing an extensive collection of his favorites. After working enthusiastically in radio production, he settled into retail management, but was primarily companion and chauffeur for his father whose health was failing. An easy-going man with a quiet sense of humor, he eagerly shared his passionate interests with others. He was known for his calm, unflappable nature throughout his life. He is survived by his mother, Ann Dodd, of the home, his brother Justin Dodd (Katie) of Richmond, Kentucky, his maternal aunt Valerie Yost (Richard) of Orlando, Florida and a number of cousins, as well as his honorary siblings, Luma Osmani (Arsim Marke), Drita Osmani, Burim Osmani (Nimete) and their sons, Aferdita Rama (Bujar) and their sons, Sara Nodine (Scott) and their son. A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 2pm at Cleveland Memorial Park, in Shelby, NC, where his father and paternal grandparents are buried. The family will receive condolences at Lowe-Neddo Funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace, Road, Matthews, NC from 6:30-8 pm on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021. The family expresses their appreciation to Dr. Adva Eisenburg and RN Cathy Thomas of Novant Endocrinology, as well as the Rev. Dr. Tom Steagald and members and friends from Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church for their support during these last few months. Memorial gifts may be directed to Hawthorne Lane UMC, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204. “Dear, sweet son, you have run the race set before you, with its many challenges, certainly not the race we all wished you had been given, but you finished it with your innocence, sweet, gentle spirit and singleness of mind intact, untouched by all the hardness and distractions of the world. And now you get the life that was intended for you, your best life. Though I wish you could have had it here, I know that God will provide for you the life you deserve in eternity and you will be gloriously happy and fulfilled.” A livestream of the graveside service will be provided via ZOOM for remote viewing.
