Jerry Ervin Morelock

Jerry Ervin Morelock, “Jerry Bird”,79, of Denver, NC, died May 16, 2024. He was born on April 24th 1945. Jerry was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country and was drafted at the young age of 18 years old. He fought in artillery as a brave and courageous man and by God’s grace he came back home safely. Upon his honorable discharge from the war, Jerry married Nancy, a long time friend that he loved very much and soon after came along his only daughter Heather. Jerry worked as delivery route driver for Pepsi and Coca-Cola Bottling raising his family in the Charlotte area. He loved to play golf with his brother Bill and brother in law Richard. He loved all animals, especially his dog Bruiser. Jerry was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He had a heart of gold and always stayed strong and shined bright and always gave his daughter light in her life. Through listening to his stories in life he would make you smile and encouraged you to fight for every thing in life. His number one thing in life was his family. “Family Always Came First” He loved talking about sports with his brothers David, Terry Lee, Leroy, and Billy Ray "Wild Bill". He always cherished talking to his sisters, Linda "Dr. Johnson" , baby sister Tina "Tina Rina" and sister-in-law Peggy Joe. “They are two peas in a pod” he always said. He loved his son in law's breakfast and always said “That's some good country cooking”. He loved all of his nieces and nephews and his number one pride and joy was his grandson Gavin and loved watching him play baseball and golf. “Daddy taught me how to be a strong person and never to give up in life no matter what. Now he is smiling and shining down on us. His bright blue eyes are watching over us with love. I wrote this in my dad's last birthday card... If I could give you one thing in this life I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes only and then would you realize how special you are to me. Thank you for believing in me more than I believe in myself. Thank you for your constant support and endless love and for being my everlasting friend. I will always be your little girl and you will always be my greatest hero always and forever. I love you Daddy from the one who needs you till the end. You will always be remembered and loved as the man, a warrior that now has his wings to fly and be free in Heaven. Amen. Love, your "boog", Heather!" A memorial service will be held at his sister Tina's home at 3PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024. Family and friends are welcome.
