June Berger Dann

Gloria "June" Berger Dann, 99, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. June was born on July 13,1922, in Franklin Square, Long Island, NY, the daughter of Charles A. Hatt and Anna Corrigan Hatt. She was a former postal worker, telephone operator and an Avon representative. When not working, she loved gardening and often received “Yard of the Month” at her home in Raleigh. June will be remembered fondly for her independence, style and grace, and of course for her love of jewelry, which was no secret! June is survived by two daughters: Lorraine Kennedy (Thomas) of Mint Hill, NC, and Carol Zinn of Wake Forest, NC; her son, Thomas Berger (Joanna) of Torrington, CT. as well as 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, her church family at St Michael's Anglican Church, and numerous other relatives and friends. Her grandchildren include: Mary Zinn Rowan (Patrick) of Hastings, MN; Susan Zinn Claypoole (Mark Prather) of Wilmington, NC; Patrick Kennedy (Cassandra) of Charlotte, NC; Kathleen Kennedy (Jon, deceased)) of Marshville, NC; Kevin Kennedy (Christine) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Michelle Berger Lefebvre (Eric) of Torrington, CT; Jennifer Zinn of Wake Forest, NC; Kristin Berger Wall (Daniel) of Winsted, CT; and step-grandchildren: Nicola Hutchison of Torrington, CT, and Peter Hutchison (Christy) of Miami, FL. Great-grandchildren include : Matthew, Daniel and Joseph Rowan, Andy and Meagan Claypoole, Ian Kennedy, Steven, Jacob, Kristin & Kaitlin Oliver, Ryan and Brennan Kennedy, Hailey and Zachary Lefebvre, Devin, Hayden and Cameron Ross, Gabriella Pardue, Caleb and Emmalyn Wall and Jaxson Lomax. Great-great grandchildren include: Vanessa, Vincent, and Vivian Rowan, Athren and Meira Rowan, Drew and Sage Claypoole, and Kayden Griffin. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years; E.A. (Whitey) Berger; her brother, Leon Benway; her sisters: Iona Castoldi, Mildred Brown and Shirley Carlino; and a son-in-law, Frederic Zinn. June's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 9:30 AM at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, 2211 Margaret Wallace Rd, Matthews, NC 28105, with the Fr. Allen Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. The family extends their gratitude & thanks to June’s special friend, Andrea Comer, in addition to the Hospice nurses, staff, and caregivers for the loving services they provided, and to the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home.
