Leo Augustine Falls Jr

Leo Augustine Falls Jr., 82 of Matthews, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 26th, 2014, at his home. Leo was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 14th, 1931, the son of Leo and Daisy Mills Falls Sr. After graduating from high school, Leo answered his country’s call to service and proudly served in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge three years later. He was married to Norma Baker, whom he was privileged to marry in 1952 and again in 1993. Leo enjoyed jazz music and when inside, was a true “Mr. Fix It”. When the weather was nicer and he was outside, his love and skill of gardening showed in the beautiful landscape around his home. He was truly a master gardener. Most of all, Leo loved his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Leo is survived by his three children: Lolita (husband, Ralph) Smith of Winterville, NC; Anna (husband, Michael) Kneller of Columbia City, IN; and Tavie (husband, Bill) Shelton of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren: Andre, Sean, Ryan (wife, Sarah), Christina, Aidan, John, Evan, Elec, Talia, and Noel; two great grandchildren: Javien and Devin; three brothers: Ricky (wife, Maxine) of Grand Rapids, MI; Earl of Kalamazoo, MI; and Larry of Morristown, NJ; and a sister, Vilma of Kalamazoo, MI. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, on July 15, 2008; his parents; a brother, David; and a sister, Chiquita. Services honoring Leo will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in the chapel of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home. Services will begin at 5 pm with a Military Tribute provided by the United States Army followed by a Celebration of Life Service.
