Linda Crowe Sikes

Linda Jane Crowe Sikes, of Charlotte, died Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina. Linda was born in Chickamauga, Georgia, on May 19, 1945, one of ten children born to the late JD and Louise Hanley Crowe. In 1964, her family moved to Charlotte as her father, a warehouse manager, found better job opportunities there. In 1965, she met a young man named John Sikes at New Hope Baptist Church, and they started dating. In June of 1966, she and John were married. Blessed with a talent for working with numbers, Linda spent most of her career working in Accounts Payable. She worked for many years at Family Dollar, Eckerd Pharmacy and most recently, CC Dickson HVAC. Linda was not just about work, she was also about family and her church family. Linda was very active for her church family and worked as an Accounts Payable Clerk for her church as well as working with Martha’s Meals, Awana and Women on Mission. When not working, she loved to read. Most of all, however, Linda loved the time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was known for dispensing her worldly wisdom to them, and busting their chops when they earned it. In addition to her husband, John, Linda is survived by three children: Tammy (husband Brian) Sims of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rhonda (husband Steven) Tyndall of Charlotte, and Heather (husband Corey) Dauer of Walbridge, OH; four grandchildren: Justin Sims, Barry Sims, Cassidy Dauer and Breauna Dauer; a great grandchild, Bexley Sims; and her siblings: Jerry Crowe, Lebron Crowe, Beverly Napier, Sandra Helms and Mike Crowe. Linda is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Elaine Thornsbury, Joe Crowe, Steve Crowe, and Randy Crowe. Linda’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 6, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105 and again from noon to 1 pm on Friday, October 7, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 8947 Albemarle Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227. At 1 pm, a service celebrating her life, love and blessing will be held in the church. Interment will follow at 3 pm at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
