Mary Patricia Scully MINT HILL - Mary Patricia Scully, 69, of Mint Hill passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 2, 2015 after a three year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She will be received into heaven by her daughter Misty Lou Sexton, sister Barbara Marr of Davenport, Florida and brother Bernard (Skip) Kenney of Rowland Heights, California. Mary was able to touch many lives with love by simply being herself. Her door remained open to everyone and no one was a stranger. Mary was a kind and gracious lady with a serving spirit who continued to mentor others her entire life. Mary always put others before herself and found good in all. Her words of love reached way beyond just family. Mary always forgave and accepted, she will forever be an inspiration to us all. She spent many years serving at New Hope Baptist Church, Charlotte and Christ Lutheran Church, Charlotte. She truly loved all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born November 7, 1945 in Nedham, Massachusetts to John and Beatrice Kenney. Left to cherish her memory are her son Lewis (Boe) Sexton wife Teresa of Matthews, NC. son Joseph (Joe) Sexton wife Jacqueline (Jackie) of Charlotte, NC. son Shawn Sexton wife Heather of Murfreesboro, TN. Daughter Beatrice (Gina) Powell husband Jeremy of Galloway, OH. and daughter Gail Helms of Mint Hill, NC. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kathy Culluum and to everyone affiliated with Christ Lutheran Church for their loving and giving spirits. Mary was known for her simplicity and the family request casual dress attire in her honor. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on May 5, 2015, at Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC. 28105. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on May 6, 2015 at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 6335 Wilson Grove Road, Mint Hill, NC. 28227 with internment to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte. NC. 28227. The family will receive guest after internment at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church for a pot luck dinner where everyone is encouraged to bring a dish of your choice.
