Nancy Anne Riker, 73, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on March 5, 1953, in Dover, New Jersey, to Homer and Anna May Riker. A true New Jerseyan at heart, she also spent chapters of her life in Florida, Texas, Arizona, and North Carolina, always following what mattered most to her—family. No matter where she lived, she brought her unmistakable personality, a spiritually grounded heart, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Nancy was the proud mother of three sons, the deeply devoted Nana to eight grandchildren, and the proud great-grandmother of two. She never missed an opportunity to brag about them to anyone who would listen, and nothing made her happier than hearing about their lives, celebrating their accomplishments, or seeing photos from birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments. More than anything else, she was "Nana," and she lived that role in everything she did. Nancy had a gift for connection. She loved keeping up with the lives of family and friends, checking in often and making sure everyone felt remembered and loved. Through every season of life, her presence was constant, and her love for her family was always unmistakable. Her phone calls became one of the most familiar and enduring ways she stayed close to the people she cared about. Nancy's faith was deeply personal. She felt a close connection with God and found comfort in prayer. Lighting a candle became one of her cherished traditions—a quiet way to pray, reflect, and remember those she loved. Nancy found joy in life's simple comforts. She loved hearts, angels, daffodils, the color pink, the beauty of October, and especially Easter, her favorite holiday. Nancy is survived by her sons, Michael (May), Peter (Kim), and Jonathan (Jeannie); her cherished grandchildren, Logan, Mckenzie, Joshua, Bella, Jonah, Penelope, Rosey, and Timothy; her great-grandchildren, Amelia and River; her sisters, Mary Lou and Sue; and many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Anna May Riker. She also shared 33 years of marriage with her former husband and lifelong friend, Richard Kusiak. Nancy's greatest gift was making people feel loved. Through her phone calls, her prayers, her fierce devotion to family, and the countless little ways she showed she cared, she left an imprint on the hearts of all who knew her. If you received a phone call from Nancy, you knew it would end the same way it began—with genuine love, heartfelt encouragement, a valuable life lesson, and the comforting reassurance that someone was always thinking of you and praying for you. While our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace in God's presence, reunited with those who have gone before her, and watching over the family she loved so dearly.
