Regina Gay McKinney

Regina Gay McKinney, 74, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and formerly of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, November 28, 2014, at her home with her family at her side. Regina was born in Bristol, Tennessee, on October 17, 1940, the daughter of Robert Luther Mottern and Doris Lena Barrett. She married Earnest Earl McKinney, a Charlotte fireman, and together they operated Family Frameshop at Eastway and Central. Regina had an incredible talent to any craft with her hands. In addition to the framing work, she enjoyed cross stitch and made angel dolls. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, and she was such a giving person she would do all she could to help others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Regina is survived by three children: Benjamin McKinney of Clemmons, NC, Keitha (husband Jeff) Thomas of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Todd McKinney of Charlotte; and a niece and a nephew whom she raised as her own: Charity (husband Doug) McMinn of Gastonia, NC, and Dale (wife Tammy) Tyson of Monroe, NC. Regina is further survived by two sisters, Sheila and Theresa; grandchildren: Brittany, Stephanie, Jeffrey Jr, Kevin, Adam, Shane, Dylan, Hadley, and Finnegan; great grandchildren: Aria, Zya, and Gatlin; and Brianna and Austin Tyson. She is further survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest. Regina’s family has given Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home of Charlotte the privilege of caring for them during this time. Graveside services at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2014. Led by Mr. Michael Neddo, friends and family will gather to lay Regina in her final place of earthly rest next to Earnest while remembering and celebrating the blessing that she was.
