Robert Minch

Robert Minch, 92, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on July 25, 2026, leaving behind a life that grew rich and full, much like the gardens and flowers he tended with such devotion. Born in Fort Hunter, New York, on March 25, 1934, Bob spent his early years growing up along the Mohawk Valley, where his lifelong love of plants first took root. He graduated from Fultonville High School in 1951 and went on to cultivate his passion formally at SUNY Cobleskill, earning his degree in Ornamental Horticulture — a field that became both his profession and his personal joy. On July 7, 1962, Bob married the love of his life, Dorothy, and together they nurtured a family that became the center of his world. Their daughters arrived like cherished blossoms: Elizabeth in 1967 and Heather in 1970. Bob's career in floral work spanned decades and states. In New York, he worked for Pedrick’s Glass Gardens, helping bring beauty into the lives of countless families. Around 1974, he and his family transplanted to Connecticut, where he continued his craft with Nyren Brothers Floral, shaping arrangements with the same care and precision he gave to every garden bed he touched. In 1996, Bob and his wife retired and moved south to Waxhaw, beginning a new season of life. He volunteered with JAARS, offering his time and steady hands to support their mission. Later moves brought him to Charlotte in 2002 and Fort Mill in 2018, each place becoming another landscape enriched by his presence. Even in his later years, Bob found joy in part‑time work at Harris Teeter, where he delighted in greeting customers and staying connected to the community. But his greatest joys were always simple and rooted in love: flowers, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, Lauren, Nate and Samuel, who were the brightest blooms in his garden of life. Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy; daughters Elizabeth (Matt) Beizer of Weatogue, CT, and Heather (Scott) Oram of Fort Mill; grandchildren Lauren and Nate Beizer, and Samuel Oram; and his sister Betty Hitchcock of Clinton, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warnick and Lillian Berry Minch, his brother Kenneth, and his sister Edith. Robert’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. Services led by Rev. Dr. Terry Moore honoring Robert’s life, love and blessing will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Weddington Methodist Church, with visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment to follow at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville. All are welcome to meet at the cemetery for the committal. Robert’s life was a testament to patient cultivation — of family, of faith, of beauty, and of kindness. Those who knew him will remember a man who understood that the best things grow slowly, tended with care, and shared generously.
