Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and raised in Chesapeake, Ron graduated from Great Bridge High School before setting off on a life filled with movement and meaning. Moving things around seemed to be in Ron's blood from the very beginning. When he was just 16, he started in Freight Forwarding at Schenkers in Norfolk. Ron then moved with them to New York for two years before being transferred to Charlotte in 1992. It was through this path that he met Jeanne, the woman who would become his wife and lifelong travel companion. Ron and Jeanne married on April 2, 2005, and what began as a honeymoon in Aruba blossomed into a cherished tradition. That first trip wasn’t a destination wedding—it was a destination honeymoon, and the same group has traveled together every year since, a testament to the joy and camaraderie Ron inspired. Ron worked for Emery, Jas, Expeditors and Vincent Van Go before he took the big step of starting his own company. In 2003, Ron founded Carolina Custom Carrier, where he served as owner and operator. His entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic were matched only by his love for life outside the office. When not working, Ron found peace and pleasure in fishing, golfing, and playing pool. When his father passed, he no longer played pool as it was something that he and his father used to do together. Ron also had a soft spot for Las Vegas, where he’d occasionally indulge in a little gambling and a lot of fun. Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne; his mother. Paige Mason; his sister, Cynthia (Skip) Cain of Norfolk, VA; and his niece, Paige Marie Cain. He is also survived by his four cherished canine children—Shelby, Lily, Mason, and Kitay—who brought him endless joy and companionship. His circle of friends and extended family remains wide and grateful for the time they shared with him. Ron’s life was one of movement—across states, across oceans, and through the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his loyalty, his laughter, and the traditions he helped create that will live on for years to come. Ron's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. Services will be held this Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of service. All services will conclude at the funeral home that day.
