Shaun Michael Ryan

Shaun Michael Ryan, 37, of Charlotte, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 28, 2020. Shaun was born in Hackettstown, New Jersey, on February 12, 1983, the son of Robert and Karen Ryan. In 1989, his family moved to Matthews, NC, and then Charlotte. Shaun was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School and after high school, entered the construction trade where he worked as a mason. During this time, he and his father shared a great love for flat track racing where Shaun raced their bike. Shaun enjoyed many things in life, including Hip Hop music and animals (the neighborhood stray cats always had a friend in him). Most especially, however, Shaun loved his family and friends and the time spent with them. Shaun was the fun uncle who was as much a kid at times as his nieces and his nephews. And though facing health challenges at times, he kept his positive outlook and made sure those around him laughed and enjoyed their time together. Shaun knew the struggles facing others today and the demons we live with, some of them very personal to him, and due to his love of others, he had an incredible compassion and openness with others in an effort to keep them from making the same mistakes. He put aside his shame for some of the things he had done to share openly with others and to this day, there are those living who owe the fact that they are alive to knowing Shaun. Shaun is survived by his mother, Karen, of Charlotte; his sister, Melissa Brown of Charlotte; his brother Bobby (wife Jennifer) Ryan of Charlotte; his aunt, Laurie (husband Jimmy) Ryan of New Jersey and their children Michael, Connor and Danny; his nieces, Channing Ryan and Dasia Brown; and his nephews: Devon Ryan, Beckham Ryan, Tristin Brown, Daeton Brown and Ryder Brown. He is further survived by his long-term girlfriend Kirsten Fagan as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Shaun’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them and for Shaun. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 12:30 on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. At 1:30, all present will join in the funeral home chapel for a service honoring the life, love and blessing of Shaun. All services will conclude at the funeral home.
