Sunnie Grace Williams

Sunnie Grace Williams, 11, of Monroe, joined her grandfather Dan Barger, and Great Grandmother Sandra Richard, as well as many others in heaven on March 25, 2024. Through the blessing of Carolina Caring Cardinal Kids Hospice Team, she was able to be at home surrounded by friends and family. Sunnie was born in Charlotte on October 23, 2012, the daughter of Carlos and Jade Williams. Sunnie was the epitome of her name’s definition. She was the light of every room she entered. Her sassy, spunky attitude grasped the hearts of every person she met. To know Sunnie was to love her. Once you met her, you were a friend for life. She enjoyed many things, including spending the warm days in the sun whether it was at the beach or the pool, shopping and spending time with family and friends. Her passion was dance. Even though her Mom and Dad made her try every sport available, she would always say her most cherished days were dancing at Visions Dance Studio and for Mrs. Donna. Just three days after her 10th birthday, she was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, called DIPG that affects 1 in 300 children every year. With no cure and a terminal prognosis; Sunnie, through the loving support of family, friends and numerous organizations, lived each day to its fullest and was a true inspiration to all who knew her. In her last selfless act, Sunnie donated her brain and tumor to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus Ohio, in hopes of continuing her fight and finding a cure so that future children and families do not have to endure what she did over the last 17 months. Her family and friends promise to continue her fight by spreading awareness and raising funds to support DIPG research and financially help affected families. Sunnie is survived by her parents, Carlos and Jade; her brother, Logan Reign; her grandparents: Gaye Barger and Pearline Williams, great grandfather Bruce Richard and wife Robin Hargett. She is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Sunnie’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. A service to celebrate her light and blessing will be held at 4 pm on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Lee Park Church.
