Wanda Kaye Privette

Wanda Kaye Privette, 68, a lifelong resident of Mint Hill, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House at Southminster in Pineville. Kaye was born at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte on April 17, 1948, the daughter of John Merritt and Janie Barker Earp. She was a member of the first graduating class of Independence High School, the Class of 1967. She worked for a time in the Cafeteria at Bain Elementary School in Mint Hill. On July 2, 1977, Kaye married Edward Michael Privette in York, South Carolina. Before she fell ill, she enjoyed working with flowers and creating beautiful arrangements to give away. Kaye also enjoyed cooking and serving as a Sunday School teacher along with her husband at Mint Hill Baptist Church and Wilson Grove Baptist Church. For the past 10 years, Kaye did not work due to becoming disabled but she did not let that slow down the joy she found in caring for others. She most loved the time spent with family and friends and she will be missed by all who knew her. Kaye is survived by her husband, Michael of Mint Hill; a sister, Barbara Atkinson of St. Cloud, Florida; a brother, Frank Earp of Huntersville; and a brother, Ted Earp of Goldsboro. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings: Marie Earp, L.M. Earp, W.H. Earp, Bobbie J. Earp, and Betty Jean Earp; and four half-siblings: Troy, Walt, J.Z. and Marie. Services honoring the life, love and blessing of Kaye will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Led by Pr. Lee Proctor and Chaplain J.D. Parker, services will be held at Mint Hill Baptist Church, 7835 Matthews –Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill. Friends may call upon the family at the church one hour prior to the service. Following services, Kaye will be taken in formal procession to her final place of earthly rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Mint Hill. Kaye’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice staff for the love and care shown to her during her stay and to Michael’s coworkers at Wal-Mart for the concern, love and support shown during this time as well.
